Members of the ToxoReTREAT team participated in the 18th International Congress on Toxoplasmosis (Toxo18), held in Búzios, Brazil, one of the leading international scientific meetings dedicated to research on Toxoplasma gondii.

The project’s results were presented through an oral presentation delivered by the project principal investigator, Dr Tijana Štajner, and two poster presentations by Olivera Lijeskić and Đorđe Zlatković.

Dr Tijana Štajner’s oral presentation highlighted the potential of MAG1 serological markers and serotyping for risk assessment and for improving the understanding of the clinical manifestations of reactivated toxoplasmosis following haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The presentation attracted considerable interest from congress participants.

Olivera Lijeskić further emphasized the importance of serotyping across different clinical manifestations of Toxoplasma gondii infection, while Đorđe Zlatković presented research on novel compounds with potential anti-Toxoplasma gondii activity, representing a promising step toward the development of new therapeutic strategies.

Participation in Toxo18 provided an excellent opportunity to present the project’s latest findings, exchange knowledge with leading international experts, and further strengthen scientific collaboration within the global toxoplasmosis research community.
